Even though the Williams County Amateur Radio Association doesn’t currently host official antenna build events, we know many hams enjoy building their own gear—and we fully support sharing resources that help you experiment and grow in the hobby.
Below are some great guides, diagrams, and videos to get you started with DIY antenna building for VHF, UHF, and HF operation.

Recommended DIY Antennas

▪️ 2m Ground Plane
  • Easy to build using a SO-239 connector and wire
  • Ideal for base stations or temporary setups
  • Simple tuning using a basic SWR meter
▪️ Slim Jim for 2m/70cm
  • Built with 450Ω ladder line
  • Offers good gain and omnidirectional coverage
  • Can be mounted indoors or outdoors
▪️ HF Inverted V
  • Requires only a center support and two trees or poles
  • Great beginner HF antenna for 40m–10m
  • Use with a simple 1:1 balun and coax
